THE NEXT WORLD OF HELMETS
Shoei’s goal was to develop a model which assured a safe, comfortable, performance ride.
They produced a wedge-shaped shell to decrease air resistance. They tested integration of the shell and parts with the assistance of wind tunnel experiments and professional riders. The results: a prominent aerodynamic structure which both improved riding stability, and significantly diminished neck fatigue.
Since its introduction with the RF-105, Shoei’s RF series has evolved through significant changes as a leading sport model helmet. Years of development, testing and on-track rider feedback have contributed greatly to this model’s growth, and it is with great pride and excitement that we present the Shoei RF-1000.
AERODYNAMIC SHAPE
Shoei’s Aero Stabilizer, a characteristic carried over from the RF-900 model, has been enlarged and helps to reduce drag and lift, as well as to direct ventilation airflow. The tail is enlarged and controls an air stream at the rear end of the helmet to improve riding stability.
AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi-Fiber) —
A high performance combination of new and advanced shell materials produces a lightweight shell with increased rigidity and elasticity. This both reduces inertia and impact energy in an accident, and provides a comfortable ride.

The RF-1000’s use of four shell and five liner sizes accomplishes a perfect fit. Interior cheek pads and chinstrap covers are removable, washable and replaceable creating an easy, affordable custom fit system in multiple sizes.
VENTILATION PERFORMANCE
The EPS Liner System is a two layer, technologically advanced liner that directs air and controls helmet temperature: hot air is exhausted effectively from two exhaust holes of outer liner and through four holes of inner liner, as shown at left.
The Upper Air Intake has been redesigned and integrated into the shell to minimize air turbulence. Considering all riding positions, the upper air intake has been positioned to maximize the air stream.
The Lower Air Intake along with dimensions of exhaust outlets have been increased, and distance between intake and exhaust is shortened, providing fresh air to the shield’s inside area and reducing fogging while riding.
Temperature Changes are shown in this thermograph of helmets subjected to intensive wind tunnel testing. The colors represent changes in temperature after being exposed to 65 mph velocity wind for 10 minutes; cooler temperatures are shown in blue. The RF-1000 includes the CX-1V shield, which is now wider to increase peripheral vision. It also features Shoei QRBP quick release system, which holds the shield closed with the simple turn of a pre-set lever.
